About Wren 3D

My name is Dan, and I am the founder of Wren 3D. With a deep passion for precision and technology, I have been working with LiDAR and stereo cameras since 2018, initially for my research masters. My studies focused on mapping woodlands and investigating the impacts of occlusions, from low-level vegetation, on tree detection using a self-built lidar system. I successfully completed my degree, laying the foundation for my passion in 3D mapping.                                                                                                                                                                                 In addition to my academic work, I have gained practical experience working for Natural Resources Wales (NRW), where I undertook two positions. The first being a data collection officer focusing on monitoring our fresh water ecosystems and my second as a remote sensing advisor in which I processed the national LiDAR dataset and produced canopy height models for widespreead use. My work also extended to projects such as ‘Keeping Rivers Cool,’ where I created shade maps to better understand shade patterns on river systems, crucial for the conservation of salmonid species.                                                                                                                                                                  More recently, I have worked for Aberystwyth University on a European Space Agency project, investigating global biomass change. This involved utilising an array of aerial and satellite-borne sensor technologies, including Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and LiDAR, to provide insights into environmental changes on a global scale.                                                                                                                                                                                               At Wren 3D, I aim to leverage this extensive experience and expertise to offer advanced 3D mapping services tailored to meet the unique needs of diverse projects. Whether it’s residential and commercial buildings, outdoor environments such as woodlands, or urban space, I am committed to delivering precise and reliable mapping solutions that empower my clients to make informed decisions and achieve their project goals.
